To support our manufacturing and warehouse campus locations, the H-E-B Industrial Facility Services team provides maintenance, repair, and construction in ammonia refrigeration, plant utilities, automated systems, and building services.
As an Automated Systems Industrial Maintenance Partner, you – ll maintain H-E-B facilities and systems in a professional manner to ensure safety, efficiency, and reliability. We are looking for:
- a high school diploma
- experience in mechanical maintenance, electrical maintenance, welding, hydraulic / pneumatic systems, construction trades, or AC maintenance
What is the work?
Maintenance / Troubleshooting / Repair & Replacement:
Buildings & Grounds
- Performs basic building repairs to dock doors, walls, roof leaks, and floor damage
- Installs / repairs water supply lines using glued plastic, compression fittings, soldered copper tubing, or threaded pipe
- Troubleshoots / repairs traffic gates, fencing, turnstiles, etc.
- Troubleshoots / repairs / replaces plumbing issues (toilet fixtures, water coolers, water supplies, sewer lines)
- Performs skill-level appropriate preventive maintenance (PM) tasks on buildings and grounds equipment
- Assists other technicians to troubleshoot / repair / replace building and grounds equipment or systems
Mechanical
- Uses appropriate tools, materials, and methods to perform mechanical tasks safely and efficiently
- Repairs / replaces gaskets, bearings, drive belts, couplings, etc. on support machinery (air compressors, compactors, pumps, etc.)
- Repairs conveyors; replaces belts, gear boxes, couplings, drive chains or belts, bearings, shafts, sheaves, sprockets, etc.
- Repairs / replaces components on automated cranes, elevators, sorters, diverts, palletizes, packaging, and shrink wrap machinery
- Performs skill-level appropriate PM tasks on facility mechanical equipment
- Assists higher-level technicians to install, troubleshoot, and repair facility mechanical equipment or systems
Hydraulics & Pneumatics
- Performs pump down, pressure discharge, and isolation procedures to make systems safe prior to maintenance activities
- Repairs / replaces cylinders, directional valves, hoses, actuators, and other small powered equipment system components
- Repairs / replaces control valves, pressure sensors, switches, and other basic operating equipment control components
- Troubleshoots / replaces seals, couplings, check valves, regulators, etc. on small air compressors and hydraulic systems
- Performs skill-level appropriate PM tasks on hydraulic and pneumatic power systems and facility operating equipment
- Assists higher-level technicians to troubleshoot / repair more complex hydraulic or pneumatic system failures prior to assigned tasks
Heating, Air Conditioning, Ventilation
- Cleans evaporator and condenser coils, fans, condensate pans; drains / replaces filters on HVAC package units
- Uses manifold gauges and thermometer to determine operating conditions; provides data to higher-level technician for evaluation
- Assists higher-level technicians to install / troubleshoot / repair HVAC units below 30 tons capacity
- Performs other skill-level appropriate PM tasks on HVAC equipment, water chillers
Fire Suppression Systems
- Secures actuated local wet system to repair water leaks, replace sprinkler heads, switches, etc.; reports system status
- Resets local wet system to operating condition
- Performs skill-level appropriate PM tasks on a dry fire suppression system
- Assists higher-level technicians in troubleshooting / repair / replacement of failed components in facility fire suppression equipment
Electrical / Electronic
- Repairs / replaces lighting fixtures; replaces light tubes or bulbs
- Uses schematics, diagrams, or drawings to locate local power supply source to an individual unit of electrically-driven equipment
- Correctly uses basic electrical test equipment (volt meter, amp meter, multimeter, and Ohm meter) on basic troubleshooting tasks on AC / DC power (voltages from 12 volts DC to 480 volts AC)
- Troubleshoots / repairs / replaces simple electrical components (fuses, breakers, switches, small motors, heaters, etc.)
- Troubleshoots / repairs / replaces I/O devices on simple PLC-controlled dock levelers, trailer restraints, etc.
- Performs skill level-appropriate PM tasks on electric power, driven and controlled equipment
- Assists higher-level technician to repair failures in more complex electrical equipment and systems
- Assists higher-level technicians to troubleshoot / repair complex PLC or computer control systems, VFDs, etc.
Welding
- Performs fire watch duties for higher-level welders and PM welding and metal working equipment
- Prepares equipment and materials for welding by cutting, grinding, or heating
- Brazes and cuts metal equipment using oxygen / acetylene torch
- Makes simple equipment repairs using an electric arc welder or oxyacetylene torch
- Complies with company standards for hot work
- Performs PM tasks on welding equipment
- Assists higher-level technicians on more complex repairs or fabrication requiring metal working and welding
Compliance:
- Follows standard operating procedures (SOP) related to work order and parts requisitions completion
- Completes accident and incident reports in compliance with policy
- Holds a universal AC license / certification in order to access refrigerant circuit
What is your background?
- High school diploma
- 2+ years of experience in mechanical maintenance, electrical maintenance, welding, hydraulic / pneumatic systems, construction trades, or AC maintenance
