Velocity is a large vintage automotive restoration shop located in the beautiful panhandle of Florida. Originally heralded as a leading specialty shop for Classic Ford Broncos, the team has won awards from PPG Dream Machine, GoodGuys, and most notably, the Specialty Equipment Market Association (SEMA). Velocity has also been recognized for a diverse range of customizations including a signature ’79 International Harvester Scout featured on FYI Network’s Ultimate Rides.

We are specifically looking for TOP AUTOMOTIVE INDUSTRY LEADING TALENT to join our metal shop. We are not accepting applications from any welders/fabricators without custom automotive experience.

About Your Role

Automotive knowledge

Knowledge of fabrication, machining/ welding equipment setup, process, and maintenance.

Ability to consistently and precisely TIG weld Stainless Steel, Aluminum, and Mild Steel

Ability to MIG weld

Ability to form and weld sheet metal of various gauges and materials for custom vehicles

Perform standard shop math: add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.

Familiarity of conventional and precision measuring instruments

Use and knowledge of all core welding/ fabrication tools to weld, cut, trim, or scarf metal objects to dimensions, as required by work orders

Inspection of both raw material and finished product for conformance to specifications.

Knowledge and ability to work with various gauges of sheet metal and materials

Working knowledge of fixturing and weld set up parameters (amps, volts, etc.).

Accurately cut and bend material to required specs

Position, clamp, and jig of components preparatory to welding

Identify and repair cracks/ fill holes in material using inspection equipment and processes

Familiarity with rust repair and panel replacement

Make recommendations for upgrades to set the Velocity standard to the shop manager.

Maintain a clean, safe, and efficiently organized workstation.

Qualifications

Minimum of 5+ years experience in classic, custom automotive industry

Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment while working independently.

Valid Driver’s License and reliable transportation to and from work daily.

Adhere to all health regulations and utilize all safety equipment.

Ability to work 7am-6pm Monday-Thursday.

Ability to work possible Fridays with depending on company workload.

Mandatory drug screening is required

Physical Demands

Must be able to lift, carry, and place merchandise and supplies up to 50 pounds without assistance.

Frequent standing and walking for long periods of time.

Frequent reaching overhead and below the knees, including squatting, bending, stooping, kneeling, twisting.

Returns any unused inventory to storage and enters and keeps track of allotted vehicles to stay on schedule to meet deadlines.

Safely operates a motor vehicle.
