Responsibilities may include:
- Read specifications or follow verbal instructions
- Utilize shop floor computer program to review jobs and their due dates
- Complete adjustment and number of adjustments depends upon the length of the cut
- Lay out, set up and operate metalworking machines such as the beveller and plasma / laser cutter
- Check products for correct shapes, dimensions and other specifications
- Rotate bevelling tasks with material handling using propane powered forklifts
- Document work completed
- Follow standard work when operating laser to ensure optimal performance of the equipment and to ensure only quality product is produced
- Perform daily maintenance to keep clean and ensure laser is working well
- Load steel sheets onto cutting table using jib crane & vacuum lift
- Measure dimensions of finished work pieces to ensure conformance to specifications using precision measurement devices as required
- Unload cut parts from laser table and load them into part carts to go to the next operation
- Cut scrap material using torches, remove from the cutting table and place in scrap bin
- Keep work area clean and organized according to 5S Standards
- Work with team members to maximize productivity and efficiency through continuous improvement initiatives
Skills and Experience:
- Keen attention to detail, an outstanding work ethic and the ability to multi-task
- Punctual, reliable with excellent attendance
- Good working knowledge of tools, blueprints, and drawings
- Physically able to perform task demands
- Good level of manual dexterity and hand / eye coordination
- Ability to troubleshoot and problem solve effectively and efficiently
- Enjoy learning new things, work well on your own and contribute to a team environment
- Positive attitude through effective and friendly communication
- Heavy lifting may be required
- Physical job, required to be on your feet all day
- Effective communication skills, both verbal and written
