Overview
The blacksmith at Fort Steele Heritage Town provides a historically accurate interpretation of the work a blacksmith would do in the 19th century, while creating items for retail sale in the gift shop. Operating a solid fuel, coal forge, the blacksmith will interpret blacksmithing as a trade, create product, deliver education programming to students as directed by the Education & Interpretation Supervisor, and engage with tourists and recite blacksmithing and local history. The blacksmith shop requires a great deal of safety enforcement to maintain a safe and healthy work environment.
