Certified Teacher, Welding Technology*
Term of Employment: September 7, 2022 – October 25, 2022*
Monday to Friday, 8:15 am to 3:15 pm
Location: Henlow Campus and/or remotely, as required

MITT is recruiting for a Certified Teacher for the Industrial Welding program, the term of employment is *September 7, 2022 to October 25, 2022, or the day before the Teacher being replaced returns to work. The Industrial Welding program provides students with the knowledge and skills necessary to design and build products by cutting and joining materials using ferrous and non-ferrous materials.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to: *

  • Implementing educational curriculum to reflect the Manitoba Technical-Vocational Curriculum Framework of Outcomes for the K-12 Welding Technology program.
  • Purchasing shop parts, tools and supplies required for day to operation of the shop, which includes soliciting quotes, completion of purchase orders, placing orders, receipt of goods and verification and matching of invoices to shop work-orders;
  • Providing a supervisor/lead role for students in work practicum and the on shop floor;
  • Developing unit labs and managing shop activities, equipment and supplies;
  • Handling student disciplinary problems, notifying and collaborating with school counselors, parents and academic advisor support staff as appropriate;
  • Establishing individual student curriculum goals and provide support in developmental areas including educational, social, behavioral, physical, mental and emotional challenges;
  • Liaison with internal and external program support groups (i.e. marketing, curriculum development, industry stakeholders and government agencies).

Required Qualifications and Experience:
A combination of related education and experience may be considered.

  • Interprovincial Certificate of Qualification (Red Seal) – Welder
  • Valid MB Teaching Certificate
  • Completion of Technical Vocational Teacher Education Diploma
