Job Description:
The purpose of this position is to fit and weld machined, cast, and forged components to assembled pipes, tanks, and vessels to required specifications as scheduled by the production schedule.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITES:
Studies blueprints, sketches, drawings, manuals, specification, or sample part to determine dimensions and tolerances of finished workpiece, sequence of operations and setup requirements.

Able to interpret documents such as safety rulers. Operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals.

Follow required company policies and procedures, including all safe work and housekeeping practices.

Review drawings and materials prior to welding, ensuring conformance of materials prior to and after welding.

Layout, prepare, tack, and assemble flange options. Tack, root pass, fill pass and finish weld assemblies. Independent and competent with ARC electrode, MIG, TIG welding equipment. Process capabilities include welding of Carbon Steel, Stainless Steel, Hastelloy, Monel, Inconel, and other exotic materials.

Fits and assembles parts into complete assembly, verifies alignment of assembly.

Interpret technical drawings including geometric dimensioning and tolerance. Perform full-penetration, x-ray quality welds. Capable of weld quality verification.

Determine parallelism, perpendicularity, and concentricity of welded parts. Use Carbon air-arc for material removal. Set up and operate spot welder. Set up and operate Pulse TIG welder. Operate Oxygen/ Acetylene torch. Grind weld to remove defects and spatter using hand grinder.

Good hand/eye coordination and manual dexterity to work with small parts.

May refer to technical drawings, engineering notices, etc.

Performs other duties as requested, directed, or assigned.

Ability to train others on the safe operation of weld shop equipment.

QUALIFICATIONS:
Minimum high school diploma or general education degree GED. Completion of a technical school certification program, or professional certification preferred.

Minimum 5-10 years previous manufacturing TIG and Flux core welding of stainless steel, carbon steel and nickel-based alloys experience preferred

Ability to read and interpret documents.

Must possess excellent communications skills, both written and verbal, in English.

Be able to respond to inquiries or complaints from customers, colleagues and members of the business community when required.

Basic computer skills.

Basic math skills.

Ability to define basic problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
