GENERAL PURPOSE

The CNC Machine Operator is responsible the operation of CNC Equipment which also includes production, quality control and maintenance.

Position is required for Night Shift that offers a per hour shift differential.

MAIN JOB TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Cut material to different dimensions and shapes by sawing, plasma, flame cutting and drilling either manually or by using CNC machines
  • Lay out, set up and operate light or heavy metalworking CNC machines
  • Check products for correct shapes, dimensions and other specifications
  • Read specifications and/or follow verbal instructions
  • Read, interpret and understand work orders, interpret technical drawings, engineered drawings, blue prints, charts and tables to determine the machining requirements
  • Select and transport material to work area manually, using cranes or hoists
  • Adjust, operate and support CNC machines and tools to execute non-repetitive machining tasks such as burning and drilling
  • Perform First-Off Inspections
  • Verify dimensions of cut materials with use of measuring tools
  • Carry out scheduled maintenance on the machines and equipment, including cleaning and lubrication
  • Operate over-head cranes and other material handling equipment
  • Calibrate machines
  • Other duties as required
  • Follow safe job practices and procedures

EDUCATION AND TRAINING

KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCE

  • Minimum1 years’ experience working with CNC equipment
  • Capable of reading blue prints an asset

CORE COMPETENCIES

  • Some experience with CNC equipment
  • Ability to read and interpret drawings working with close tolerances
  • Adaptability
  • Standing for long periods of time
  • Able to handle up to 9 kg (20 lbs) in weight manually

Job Type: Full-time

Salary: $25.00-$32.00 per hour
