Overview

The Inspector is responsible for the following, as directed by management and properly trained:

Conduct NDT Visual Inspections (VT) & Liquid Penetrant Inspections (PT).

Write NDT VT & PT reports.

Verify Fit-up Inspection Record before performing NDT inspection.

Write and submit checkpoint callouts.

Attend IG and VG inspections.

Communicate and coordinate with Supervisor’s on Inspection requirements as needed.

Review job specifications to identify system requirements for special system / structure as they pertain to military standards in support of contracts for bidding purposes.

Ability to read the work specification, verify that the information in the specification is correct by reading the print or drawing identified in the specification. Use that information to assign the proper level of control and inspection requirements.

Correspond with customer representatives and production department.

Provide support to Production for all welder qualifications.

Generate TIPS as “prime” contractor and submit to SUPERVISOR.

Conduct TIP reviews with Production.

Ensure TIPs get closed out at the end of the jobs.

Ensure OQEs are processed properly (i.e. submit Final Checkpoint to customer).

Assist as needed with tools needing calibration are submitted to third party supplier to get calibrated.

Act as internal auditor as needed.

Generate WPS / Job Traveler’s requests.

Process “Approved” PCPs in-house.

Review PCPs, in-process.

Support & conduct welding surveillance using form QF-8213.

Comply with EHS and Quality policies and procedures.

Assist as needed in new hire orientation and NAVSEA 009 Standards training.

Participate in QMS and daily production meetings.

Assist and prepare for the annual SWRMC Welding / NDT audit.

Have knowledge about shipyard safety requirements of OSHA 1915.

Assist with revising, keeping up to date and implementing QC procedures:

Conduct PCP reviews during Production Meetings, as applicable.

Uphold all company policies and procedures.

Able to conduct safety walkthroughs to ongoing projects as needed.

Act as Company Permit Authorizing Individual (PAI) for hot work as needed.
