Position Summary: Fabricate and Weld various Steel and Stainless-Steel parts per company drawings/specifications using ASME approved and qualified welding procedure specifications. Use and maintain related shop equipment for welding and product movement.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities: may include any or all of the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Lay out, position, align and fit together fabricated parts of piping metal products according to blueprint and layout specifications per ASME requirements
  • Ability to pass a weld test meeting ASME requirements
  • Communication with outside inspection agencies
  • Operate and maintain welding equipment efficiently
  • Lays out, positions, and secures parts and assemblies according to specifications, using straightedge, combination square, calipers, and ruler
  • Tack-welds or welds components and assemblies, using electric, gas, arc, or other welding equipment
  • Welds components in flat, vertical, or overhead and roll out positions
  • Determines required equipment and welding method need for quality production, applying knowledge of metallurgy, geometry, and welding techniques

Qualifications

  • Must own hand tools
  • Basic layout skills and math skills.
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out written, oral, or diagram form.
  • Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume; apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry. All applications necessary to adequately perform required tasks.
  • Ability to pass background check, pre-employment physical and drug screening test.
  • Regular, reliable and punctual attendance with the ability to work overtime and weekends.
  • Possess strong sense of urgency.
  • Works independently and/or as a cooperative team player.
  • Willingly takes direction from supervisory and lead personnel.
  • Adhere to quality procedures and demonstrates strong safety awareness and prevention.

Must be able to pass a weld test to include:

  • 6G
  • SCH 80
  • TIG, MIG, STICK and Fluxcore
  • Bend test

Education & Experience: Associate’s degree or equivalent from two-year college or technical school and 2+ years related experience and/or training.

This job is located in Henderson, TX – no per diem.
