General Summary: The Construction Foreman works on site at BREC facilities, supervising and coordinating construction activities of a variety of BREC projects. The Construction Foreman handles planning, scheduling, and assigning personnel for daily job assignments. He is also required to interact with a wide variety of people including Construction Superintendent, Planning and Engineering, BREC staff and sub-contractors. This position also requires estimating, ordering of building materials, layout, and quality assurance.

EXAMPLE OF DUTIES

Education Required: H.S. diploma or equivalent and Vo-tech school diploma or associates degree.Education Preferred: Graduation from an accredited four (4) year college or university.Area of Study (major) Required: Construction/trades.Preferred: Construction management or closely related field.Certification(s) Required: First Aid and CPR certification within specified time frame, provided by BRECLicense Required: Valid LA driver’s license.Years Relevant Work Experience: Five (5) years of construction experience with two (2) years in a supervisory position. Equivalent combination of educationExperience Preferred: 10 or more years of related experience, at least 3 years full-time at BRECKnowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Thorough knowledge of construction work including carpentry, concrete work, painting, grading and general knowledge of mechanics and plumbing.Knowledge of recreation facilities, equipment and playing fields.Strong interpersonal skills with ability to resolve conflict and foster positive/productive team environment.Skill in the use of light to heavy motorized equipmentSkill in the operation of hand and power toolsAbility to communicate effectively, both orally and in writingAbility to plan, organize, supervise subordinates and set priorities for crew work completion.Ability to schedule and order materials in timely manner.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Essential Functions and Job Duties: Planning work projects based on blueprints and plans, establishing a priority for completion, ensuring that emergency and high priority projects are completed first.Inspects BREC projects for safe conditions, work progress/completion, and quality work.Responsible for correct layout/installation/renovation of park facilities typically following construction documents.Communicating effectively between other CIP personnel as needed to efficiently and accurately complete jobs.Assigning personnel to tasks, ordering materials.Insures compliance with BREC policies and procedures.Responsible for communicating design problems to supervisors in a timely manner.Supervising a variety of trades jobs at different locations. Secondary Job Duties: Evaluates and assigns personnel best suited for specific jobs.Operating machinery as needed.Operating crew as an emergency crew supporting maintenance in park recovery efforts as needed. SUPPLEMENTAL INFORMATION

Hours Worked: Generally, four (4) days per week – Monday through Thursday, 10 hours per day-6:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Seldom required, but occasional weekend work possible.
