Overview

We are looking for a Welder/Fabricator who can handle a variety of assignments to support our aggregate hauling and construction departments.

This role performs all duties and tasks related to the preventative and corrective maintenance of transport/dump trucks & trailers; heavy equipment and other related construction equipment and vehicles.

The successful candidate must be able to work from blueprints, service manuals and schematic drawings, conduct inspections, tests, repair, and replace parts. Use of cutting torches and welder to perform various fabrication tasks, comfortable using both stick and mig welding applications.

This role is mainly preformed in the shop, and occasionally out in the field; must be able to work in all weather conditions and work well in both independently and a team environment

Prepare and submit equipment maintenance records, time sheets, etc.

Has the utmost respect for safety procedures including the use of safety clothing and equipment and ensures any concerns are reported.

Ensures cleanliness and organization of shop, maintenance of shop tools and equipment, loading/unloading and storage of equipment, etc.

Skills Required:

  • Proven experience as welder
  • Determine the appropriate welding equipment or method based on requirements
  • Set up components for welding according to specifications (e.g. cut material with powered saws to match measurements)
  • Operate angle grinders, plasma cutters, oxi/acetylene torches to prepare parts that must be welded
  • Align components using calipers, rulers etc. and clamp pieces
  • Weld components using manual or semi-automatic welding equipment in various positions (vertical, horizontal or overhead)
  • Must have own hand tools applicable to position
  • Experience using a variety of welding equipment and procedures (MIG, Arc)
  • Experience in using saws, squares, calipers etc.
  • Able to work long days, flexible work hours & weekends
  • Must be able to perform the physical requirements of the role (heavy lifting, bending, climbing, working at heights)
  • Valid driver’s license with clean driver’s abstract
  • Strong problem solving skills
  • Exhibits strong teamwork, verbal and written skills
  • Ability to work safely in a fast pace environment
  • Demonstrates superior time management skills
  • Must speak fluent English

Job Type: Full-time

Salary: $25.00-$35.00 per hour
