Overview

The Olds College Trades is currently seeking a Welding Instructor in its Dual Credit Welding program on the Olds College campus for a short term contract. The Dual credit welder Program provides instruction in basic welding for students completing secondary (high school) programming where they gain credit towards their graduation requirements as well as future post-secondary programs.

The anticipated start date for this opportunity is: Nov 16, 2020. There is also potential for continued instruction opportunities later in the academic year.

Responsibilities will include delivering the dual credit welding curriculum and all aspects of the practical portion (shop) of the program. Further requirements will include grading of projects, records management and student mentoring. This instruction will occur in a face-to-face setting, both classroom theory and practical lab experiences.

Mandatory professional requirements include Journeyman Certification (Red Seal) in the trade of Welder for a minimum of five (5) years. A Certificate or Diploma in Welding Technology or equivalent would be a definite asset. The ability to work in both a team environment and independently with minimal supervision is essential. The successful candidate will possess strong interpersonal skills and organizational abilities. Previous experience instructing similar welding programs at the post-secondary level, CWB certification and knowledge of Google and Microsoft Office products will be definite assets.
