The Fabrication Tech
is the central contact point for maintenance, production, and management personnel concerning the operational status of the facility. Because of this, the Fabrication Tech is a very important individual in the overall plant organization. It is this individual’s responsibility to keep themselves constantly aware of the plant’s operational capabilities and to keep the rest of the organization informed of any limitations that could be placed on the operation of the plant.

  • Interprets blueprints, specifications, diagrams or schematics to determine appropriate welding process; Well versed in understanding welding symbols.
  • Ability to read and accurately use measuring tools including tape measure, caliper, micrometer in both imperial (inch) and metric units
  • Clamp, hold, tack-weld, heat-bend, grind or bolt component parts to obtain required configurations and positions for welding.
  • MIG, TIG, and Stick on Stainless Steel, Carbon Steel, and small amounts of Aluminum
  • Operate power grinders/tools, drill press, and other miscellaneous hand tools
  • Ability to give/take work instruction and communicate effectively with others


Conform to all safety procedures and policies

  • Report to the Maintenance Superintendent for all matters relating to the predictive, preventive and corrective maintenance of all plant equipment.
  • Plan all maintenance (planned, predictive, and corrective) for plant equipment in the Tech’s area of cognizance.
  • Interface with the Operations and Maintenance Departments on a regular basis through daily and weekly planning meetings keeping them informed of upcoming maintenance requirements and keeping abreast of planned equipment downtime.
  • Interface with maintenance management personnel and craftsperson’s on a regular basis to ensure the smooth flow of maintenance tasks and as a prelude to the planning and scheduling of future maintenance tasks.


Principal Accountabilities

50%

  • Pipe fitting/welding experience
  • Stainless, Layout, Fabrication, and straightening: 1 year
  • Operation of shop equipment, lathe, mill, iron worker, shearer, brake, and hydraulic press

30%

  • Report to the Maintenance Superintendent for all matters relating to the predictive, preventive and corrective maintenance of all plant equipment.
  • Plan all maintenance (planned, predictive, and corrective) for plant equipment in the Tech’s area of cognizance.

  • This position requires a working knowledge of basic computer skills. Proficiency in Word processing, Excel spreadsheets and project management software is a plus.
  • This position requires a working knowledge of most aspects of the CMMS system. Training is provided for those areas in the CMMS software where the successful candidate is deficient

  • Basic understanding/use of AutoCAD.
