Overview

Reporting to the Fabrication Manager, the Shop Foreman is responsible for the effective supervision of “shop” employees to ensure that quality standards and productivity requirements are met. Responsibilities will include the training of employees in service and product methods, safety, policies and procedures, as well as the identification and correction of potential work problems and health and safety issues. In the course of his/her duties, the Shop Foreman will prepare a range of reports and hold responsibilities for the effective budgeting in his/her area. Through the effective management of targets, goals and service efficiencies, the Shop Foreman will ensure the ongoing success of the shop floor.

Responsibilities

  • Train, coach and mentor employees in job duties, best practices, safety procedures and company policies
  • Supervise the activities of the “shop” employees
  • Ensure compliance with company standards for cost control, waste reduction, quality, and complete and on-time delivery
  • Ensure compliance with all company health and safety policies and proactively promote and enforce a safe work environment at all times
  • Maintain and distribute up-to-date production requirement information and schedules
  • Ensure quality of workmanship through inspection and verification of work and address issues and concerns
  • Identify and ensure completion of shop maintenance and repair work
  • Identify, investigate, correct and document potential environmental and safety problems
  • Establish methods to meet work schedules and coordinate work activities as necessary
  • Resolve work problems and recommend measures to improve productivity and product quality
  • Provide information for production plans to ensure that production objectives are met
  • Requisition materials and supplies
  • Conduct employee reviews
  • Recommend personnel actions such as hiring and promotions
  • Prepare production and other reports as required
  • Other duties as required

Job Types: Full-time, Permanent

Salary: $32.00 per hour
