Ayr Welding is a multi-service trade company. We offer a wide range of services including pipe welding, custom fabrication, millwrighting, refrigeration piping, electrical services, equipment handling and piping system installations.

Position Available: We are currently looking for an individual with custom fabricating experience.

What can I expect in this role?

You will:

  • Lay out, position, align, and secure parts and assemblies prior to assembly, using straightedges, combination squares, calipers, and rulers.
  • Meet project deadlines
  • Weld components in flat, vertical, or overhead positions.
  • Weld separately or in combination, using aluminum, stainless steel, and other alloys.
  • Determine required equipment and welding methods, applying knowledge of metallurgy, geometry, and welding techniques.
  • Monitor the fitting, burning, and welding processes to avoid overheating of parts or warping, shrinking, distortion, or expansion of material.
  • Analyze engineering drawings, blueprints, specifications, sketches, work orders, and material safety data sheets to plan layout, assembly, and welding operations.
  • Chip or grind off excess weld, slag, or spatter, using hand scrapers or power chippers, portable grinders, or arc-cutting equipment.
  • Check grooves, angles, or gap allowances, using micrometers, calipers, and precision measuring instruments.
  • Repair products by dismantling, straightening, reshaping, and reassembling parts, using cutting torches, straightening processes and hand tools

How do I qualify?

Knowledge and Skills

  • Confidently operate equipment in a safe manner
  • Ability to resolve assembly and production issues
  • Experience operating a brake press, rollers and shears
  • Ability to organize and layout work according to hand sketches or blueprints
  • Current CWB Tickets is an asset
  • Strong attention to detail

Communication and Interpersonal Skills:

  • Ability to work with a team and coordinate with fellow workers
  • Effective time management
  • Safety conscious
  • Sound judgement

What is the working environment like?

Working Conditions

This position includes:

  • Working in the shop at 406 Harmony Rd, Ayr
  • Must be able to stand for extended periods of time
  • Monday- Thursday 7:00-4:30 and Friday 7:00 to 3:30 pm
  • Ability to work extra hours to accommodate project deadlines

Transportation

  • Public transit is not available

This is a Permanent Fulltime position. A work week consists of 44 hours. Overtime is required occasionally. Pay is based on experience and ability.
