THE POSITION

MSU has an opening for an experienced full-time Aluminum Cutter and Fitter.

Responsibilities

  • Cutting Aluminum and Stainless Steel
  • Interpret drawings and bill of materials on orders to determine material layouts and dimension requirements
  • Follow procedures to produce and efficiently make quality parts
  • Accurate cutting, fitting, and layout required for manufacturing of finished goods
  • Daily reporting of material usage and labour for all shop floor work
  • Appropriate maintenance and upkeep of job-related equipment
  • Work in a safe manner that complies with company health and safety standards and the Occupational Health and Safety Act
  • Any and all other duties that serve the company and the customer, (i.e. sweep, clean, and material preparation)

Required Skills

  • Experience required operating fabrication equipment, including saws, milling machines, lathes, ironworkers, benders and shears
  • Material preparation; the majority of the material is 1/4” or 3/8” thick grade 6061-T6 aluminum, as well as 304 and 316 stainless steel.
  • Strong blueprint reading capabilities to fit and layout parts to achieve a quality finished product; and ability to advise on edits or revisions that may be required to attain such a quality part
  • Solid understanding of cutting and fittings procedures and a willingness to train others as required
  • Knowledge of metalworking machines, materials, applications and techniques
  • Counterbalance forklift certification
