MSP is looking to hire a Welding Supervisor with intimate knowledge of CSA Welding Standard W47.1.The successful candidate will be responsible for managing a team of 16 – 20 CWB certified welders and maintaining the highest CWB Standards possible.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- The Welding Supervisor shall have a minimum of five (5) years of welding related experience pertinent to MSP’s type of operation and hold a CWB Welding Supervisors ticket W47.1
- The Welding Supervisor should possess tickets CWB SMAW all positions, and CWB FCAW all positions.
- CWB certification is mandatory. Having complete the necessary examinations required to achieve and maintain standard W47.1.
- Must have welding experience in a heavy manufacturing environment (entry level candidates with relevant education and training may also be considered).
- Must be able to read and interpret complex blueprints/weld symbols, drawings specifications, manuals and process sheets to accurately build products to specifications.
- The Welding Supervisor shall be familiar with both manual and robotic welding operations. The Supervisor must be familiar with the proper operation of the types of welding equipment for which they will be responsible. Also, experience using electrical and manual tools (calipers, squares, etc.).
- Must be available to work evening/days shifts.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Maintain CWB Welding Standards
- The Welding Supervisor shall ensure that MSP’s personnel involved in welding are qualified and working with approved welding procedures in the shop. The Supervisor will work with management to establish and maintain such standards.
- The Welding Supervisor shall perform training activities for probationary welders and shall ensure follow-up on the shop floor. The Supervisor establish and maintain an updated list of qualified welders.
- The Welding Supervisor will establish and maintain the schedule for qualification test sessions with the CWB for renewal or probationary welder qualification. The Supervisor will contribute to the development of welding procedures and standards.
- Must be able to meet scheduled demands while maintaining a high level of quality and safety.
- Weld using various material and techniques (specifically MIG).
- Examine welds and ensure that they meet standards and/or specifications.
- Achieve and maintain required productivity levels (efficiency & utilization)
- Maintain equipment and keep a tidy workspace.
- Adhere to all Safety and Health standards, procedures & regulations.
SKILLS:
- Demonstrated analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
- Excellent communication skills in English, both verbal and written. Must be capable and function at a senior management level.
- Proven ability to meet deadlines in a dynamic and challenging environment by effectively organizing, prioritizing, and executing tasks
- Ability to work independently without direct supervision
- Physically fit and capable of performing job requirements with the ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
- Reliable, punctual, and a positive team-player.
- Previous knowledge and experience with 5S and Lean Manufacturing considered an asset.
- Positive attitude, adaptable, open-minded, initiative, enthusiasm
- Other assets would include a valid First Aide Certificate, and WHIMS.
