Overview

Valmont West Coast Engineering is currently seeking a qualified CWB certified Welder 2, to join our team in Barrie, Ontario. This incumbent is responsible for efficiently performing a variety of high-quality welding operations in a production environment. This incumbent will also make necessary adjustments to ensure proper blueprint specifications are met as well as performing minor maintenance on equipment. The incumbent will also have the opportunity to operate material handling equipment such as cranes, pallet jacks, forklifts, and conveyors.

Shift hours: Monday to Thursday 6:30 am to 3:30 pm, Friday 6:30 am to 12:40 pm (40 hours per week)

Essential Functions:

· Operates grinding and burning equipment

· Accurately use measuring devices such as a tape measure

· Performs minor welding machine maintenance (i.e. tips, liners, gas cups, drive rolls)

· Uses labor reporting system, reads and utilizes blueprints.

· Applies adjustments to welding machinery to prescribed settings, operates production tooling and cranes

· Provides accurate accounting of labor, number of parts produced and provides all necessary quality checks

· Participates in various team functions and projects adapting to everyday problems in a cooperative manner

· Works with elements of lean production researching ideas for continuous improvement with both individual cells and the total unit

· Collaborates with management and demonstrates effective, positive and proper communication

Required Qualifications of Every Candidate (Education, Experience, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities):

· Minimum 2 years of relevant welding experience

· Ability to pass and maintain CWB weld tickets in FCAW / MCAW flat and GMAW flat

· Flux Core arc welding, Metal core arc welding, and gas metal arc welding

· Welder candidates will need to be scheduled for a welding test as part of the hiring process.

· Capable of understanding key processes in the department

· Ability to interpret drawings, work orders, welding processes, materials, and other documentation associated with production

· Strong mathematical capability and layout skills

· Willing to work overtime as required and committed to doing what is necessary to ensure duties are completed

· Strong oral and written English language communication skills

· Strong organizational skills, ability to multi-task
