Overview

Reporting to the Project Design Manager, this role will set the department standard in implementing processes to improve efficiency. The primary responsibility of the Digital Fabrication Manager is to take ownership and provide supervision of the entire digital fabrication process, from detailing of 3D models to the production of finished components. The Digital Fabrication Lead will also be responsible for department-related infrastructure, including all hardware, software and tooling that is required throughout the creation of all projects.


Responsibilities
:

  • Sustain an understanding of the latest construction & building methods, digital fabrication techniques and equipment to help drive efficiency
  • Inspire and provide guidance to the Digital Fabrication team with a focus on encouraging individual and team growth
  • Review and interpret 3D models and drawing packages provided by Project Design and contribute feedback for improvement and modifications
  • Develop sound, reliable processes for producing complex 3 and 5 axis parts
  • Act as an advisor for business development and source of technical support
  • Lead production and/or solution meetings as required to ensure project efficiency
  • Oversee the production and organization of working files for all CNC machines using cut optimization software
  • Provide direction and files for cutting to lead operator to ensure efficient machining process
  • Ensure that all operators are performing the required maintenance procedures on the digital fabrication equipment on a regular basis
  • Ensure that the department maintains an accurate tooling and equipment usage record
  • Review tool usage and longevity and make recommendations for improvements as required
  • Comply with and support company and industry health and safety standards
  • Manage stress and work efficiently under tight timelines
  • Maintain up-to-date records that track the hours spent on each project
  • Perform other related duties and general tasks that are assigned

Qualifications/Requirements
:

  • 5 years + of industry experience using digital fabrication equipment
  • Proficiency in SolidWorks, CAMWorks, Swood, WoodWOP & Adobe Creative Suite
  • Knowledge of Rhino or AutoCAD software is an asset
  • Knowledge of Salesforce is an asset
  • Ability to produce efficient and cost-effective CNC programming
  • Familiarity of CNC routers and nesting
  • Experience with Homag Routers an asset
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Good organizational and planning skills
  • Ability to understand technical drawings
  • Strong math and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to work effectively in a team setting with effective communication skills
