The person will be involved in:

· New product development activities

· Provide and participate in safety improvement initiatives

· Participate in 5S & other housekeeping initiatives

· Welding consumable prototype testing and characterization

· Documentation of experimental results

· Work with Consumable R&D Engineer to bring projects to completion

· Work with Weld Tech Supervisor to bring open compliance activities to completion

· Assist Manufacturing engineering team with process improvement activities

· Generating work instructions and other required documentation

· Other duties as assigned by Consumable R&D and Weld Tech Manager

Required knowledge/skill:

  • Strong communication, documentation, and time management skills
  • Strength in analysis/optimization of products and manufacturing processes,
  • Solid observation skills with attention to details
  • Knowledge of material characterization and laboratory testing methods
  • Hands on welding experience will be a plus
  • Experience in modeling and drafting using Solid Edge or similar CAD software (eg SolidWorks) a plus

Requirements:

  • Must be in Year 3 of Graduate Program: Mechanical, Mechatronics, Chemical, Industrial Process or Metallurgy
  • Must be eligible to participate in a 16 month internship/co-op program from the university’s end
