SEI Technologies has an exciting opportunity for a Welding Technician 1, 2 or 3 to join our team in our Hickory, NC location

The Welding Technician will be working within a team environment and will have responsibility for the operation of welding equipment. He/she will perform weld-repair related activities to ensure that parts are manufactured in accordance with manufacturing standards and specifications. Weld Techs are also responsible for the continuous flow of materials and parts.

Additionally, the Welding Technician 1 will:

· Exhibit knowledge of safety items throughout the shop including hazards and necessary controls.

· Knowledge of cleaning methods including media blast, ultrasonic cleaning, wire brush.

· Exhibits proper use of grinding and cutting tools.

· Can read measuring devices such as calipers, micrometer, measuring tape, machinist rule, weld fillet gauges.

· Knowledge of the terminology of welding, consumables, and discontinuities.

· Able to demonstrate a sound weldment using proper TIG techniques.

· Maintain accurate and reliable documentation.

· Finished TIG welding certification and up to 1 year of welding experience

In addition to level 1 requirements, a Welding Technician 2 will:

· Be proficient at putting together an assembly according to the blueprints.

· Be proficient in welding multiple alloys of metal, both ferrous and non-ferrous.

· Be proficient in welding or cutting on multiple processes (i.e. SMAW, GMAW, GTAW, etc.)

· Have 1-5 years of welding experience

In addition to level 1 & 2 requirements, a Welding Technician 3 will:

· Exhibit proficiency of proper filler/base metal combinations on ferrous and non-ferrous metals.

· Employee has knowledge of mechanical properties and characteristics of ferrous and non-ferrous metals.

· Strong understanding of destructive and non-destructive testing methods.

· Proficiency with methods and criteria for process certification and personnel certification.

· Ability to set up a welding process including machine setup, filler selection, and non-consumable selection.

· Have 5+ years of welding experience and CWI

Required

· Lift and move metal objects up to 60 lbs. Must be able to bend, reach, squat, twist, and turn, reaching into the machine to load and unload tooling and parts.

· Excellent vision and ability to pass vision and color blindness exams.

· Sharp attention to detail in favor of identifying defects

· Self-driven and hard worker

· Able to work efficiently with minimal supervision

· Strong verbal and oral communication skills

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $16.00 – $20.00 per hour
