Overview
Position Summary:
STRAIT is looking for experienced Labourers and Welder Helpers for project based Pipeline and Facility work throughout Western Canada.
Role and Responsibilities
- Identify and report hazards or unsafe work practices
- Participate in pre-job toolbox meetings to identify potential hazards and measures to eliminate or minimize them
- Load and unload construction materials, and move materials to work areas
- Remove debris at construction sites
- Assist in aligning pipes and perform related activities during oil and gas pipeline construction
- Fuel equipment when needed
- Clean construction work areas
- Assist Welder in providing required materials and tools
- Assist in the preparation of material for welding by cutting or grinding using pipe cutters, hammer and chisel, cutting torch, and/or grinder
- Set material in stands, racks, hoists, etc. for welding
- Set up equipment and weld parts
- Operate metal cleaning equipment to remove excess welds, rust, scale and other materials from surfaces of metal products
- Complete tasks directed by the supervisor
Qualifications and Education Requirements
- 1 year+ within pipeline and facility construction
- Safety Certifications required: Standard First Aid, Enform H2S, CSTS or PCST and ACGA Endorsed Ground Disturbance Supervisory or Level II
- Safe and positive attitude
