Job Title:

Welder / Fitter (10 – 15 years experience)

Main Purpose of the Job:

Under the direction of the Foreman, the responsibilities of the Welder / Fitter position include fitting and joining, fabricating, and repairing metal and other weldable material by applying appropriate welding techniques in accordance with product specifications and production schedules.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • To use TIG / MIG welding equipment to manufacture parts and assemblies.
  • Build welded assemblies for new products and changes to existing products as per engineering documents and established production standards.
  • Operating other necessary equipment and performing tasks necessary to complete parts to specifications.
  • Preparing and setup of necessary tools and equipment for welding jobs.
  • Arranging of parts for welding and staging processes.
  • Inspect and correct welds as necessary to meet product specifications.
  • Review finished assemblies & parts to ensure accuracy against drawings.
  • Report fabrication issues and assist in resolutions as required.
  • Perform other duties as requested by the department manager.
  • Log hours worked on each project.

Qualifications:

  • Welder Certificate from acceptable reputed welding Association or Work experience for at least 10 years.
  • Ontario Health and Safety Act and WHMIS (Workplace Hazardous Material Information system) Certificates, FOD (Foreign Object Debris) Training
  • Familiar with a variety of welder concepts, practices, and procedures under CWB (Canadian Welding Bureau) or any international standards.
  • Ability to understand welding symbols and diagrams, read blueprints, and/or other printed instructional material in the welding of products or parts.
  • Must be thoroughly familiar with welding equipment such as torches, torch tips, filler rods, flux, hoses, valves, and gas cylinders.
  • Demonstrate willingness to work with others in a team environment.
  • Fork lifts Training Certificate.

Working Conditions:

Working conditions are normal for a metal fabrication environment. Standing for long periods of time is required. Must be physically fit, work involves lifting.

  • Position Type: Permanent, Full-Time, 45hrs / week
  • Shifts: Day Shift, Monday – Friday – Availability to work occasional Weekend

· Salary: $CA 35.00/hour

  • Overtime: Paid Overtime
