The Position

Norcada is currently looking for a Fabrication and Product Engineer to support the design, cleanroom fabrication, and testing of our new products. The main responsibilities in this position include supporting the R&D and Operations teams in new MEMS process design, testing, and standardization of processes. The position is designed to let you work both in our Cleanrooms and our Nano-Bio Testing labs.

This position reports to our product development manager who oversees microscopy/spectroscopy products as well as our Nano-Bio technology solutions. We are seeking individuals with a proven track-record in cleanroom-based fabrication, electron microscopy, electronics, and process development/standardization. This is a full time, permanent position and provides medical and pension benefits.

Key Responsibilities

  • Developing and maintaining advanced micro/nano-fabrication processes to make MEMS devices for scientific applications.
  • Ownership of fabrication processes and continuous improvements of quality and yield.
  • Product and process characterization using various microscopy and spectroscopy methods.
  • Help with preparing mask and layout design, as well as QA/QC documents
  • Integrate and troubleshoot sub-systems as part of an R&D team.
  • Performing feasibility assessments and sanity checks using analytical tools such as COMSOL, MATLAB and Python.
  • Analyzing issues identified during product and process development

Qualifications and Experience

  • Post-secondary education in Mechatronics, MEMS and micro-fabrication, Mechanical, Electrical, or Materials engineering (BSc, MSc, PhD).
  • Minimum of 3 years of work experience in cleanrooms and semiconductor or MEMS fabrication
  • Hands-on experience in microfabrication techniques including UV and e-beam lithography, PVD and CVD deposition (sputtering, evaporation, PECVD, ALD, etc), Wet and plasma etching (metal and semiconductor wet etching, ICP/RIE, DRIE, etc).
  • Photomask design using L-Edit or similar software
  • MEMS modeling and simulation using COMSOL Multiphysics.
  • Hands-on experience characterization techniques such as Scanning electron microscopy (SEM), Transmission electron microscopy (TEM), Atomic force microscopy (AFM), Variable angle spectroscopic ellipsometry (VASE) Optical profilometry for topography measurements and I-V probe stations.
