We are looking for a technician who is skilled at fabrication and welding. The candidate should have experience with GMAW, SMAW, and GTAW welding processes, and additionally be competent at using an oxy-acetylene torch and plasma cutter. The candidate will work with sheet, plate, bar stock, pipe, and structural shapes for the fabrication of process machinery.

The technician must be able to operate shop equipment such as band saws, drills, presses, brakes, pipe threaders, and powered hand tools.

Primary Responsibilities:
Select, cut, trim, cope, drill, and shape stock materials such as flat bar, channel, angle, pipe, sheet, and plate

Accurate fit-up and tack welding of multiple components into an assembly; complete weld-out after fit-up inspection; grinding and blending seams to the required finish

Selection of the appropriate weld procedure and welding machine parameters including shielding gas, voltage, welding wire selection, and feed rate.

Perform cuts on sheet and plate using saws, cut off tools, hand held plasma cutter, or CNC plasma cutter

Operate a pipe threading machine

Assembly of multiple weldments and machine components into equipment

Machine setup, operation, and maintenance; upkeep of the work area in a clean and safe order

Read and interpret technical drawings, data sheets, and specifications

Use rulers, calipers, micrometers, dial indicators, gauges, and other instruments for precise measurements

Handle of heavy, large, or awkward parts manually or with cranes

Procure and inventory of welding rods, wire, tools, and consumable supplies

Enter raw material consumption, machine utilization, and labor in the CMMS/ERP software

Perform other duties as assigned

Requirements:
A minimum of Associate’s Degree in Welding Technology or comparable degree from an accredited college is preferred. A Welding Technology Certificate will be considered provided that the candidate has relevant work experience.

Minimum 3yrs experience of fabrication and welding

Experience using AutoCAD software is desired

Good communication and collaboration skills

Experience with Google G Suite desired

Willing to work overtime as needed

Ability to lift and carry up to 50lbs

Ability to sit, stand, walk, kneel, reach, bend, climb, push, and pull for long periods

Work is indoors but subject to seasonal weather conditions
