Job title Shop Helper/ Welder

Job Description

Our company is looking for a motivated helper/welder to join our team. You will be expected to work with mild carbon steel, stainless steel, and aluminum. Most of our shop work is dedicated to MIG welding carbon steel but we frequently have projects with aluminum and stainless steel. This job requires you to do a variety of tasks besides welding that include : cutting steel, punching/drilling holes, grinding, sanding, and painting.

Must be able to read a tape measure

Duties and responsibilities

  • Work with mild steel, aluminum and stainless steel
  • Set up and operate band saw and iron worker ( punch, shear, brake)
  • Blueprint reading or willing to learn
  • Fabricate, assemble, install, and repair metal products
  • Shape metal material using hand tools ( grinder, drill, hammer drill)
  • Oxy/ Acetylene torch and plasma cutter
  • MIG welding
  • Trim, file, grind, deburr, buff, and smooth surfaces using hand tools and portable power tools
  • Weld, rivet, screw, clip, caulk, or bond component parts to assemble products
  • Fabricate components that meet project requirements
  • Inspect assemblies and installations
  • Perform service calls on-site to repair equipment and machinery
  • Dependable worker with the ability to keep a steady schedule
  • Operate forklift

Qualifications

  • 18 years of age or older with a high school diploma or equivalent
  • Associate or trade school degree in welding, fabrication or equivalent education strongly preferred
  • Ability to travel, occasional overnight stays
  • Driving license with strong driving record
  • 1+ year of welding/fabrication experience with mild, stainless, and aluminum is preferred
  • Must be able to read tape measure, level, and square
  • Familiar with MIG/Stick welding
  • Team player
  • Excellent attention to detail
  • A valid certificate in welding from an accredited institution is preferred

Working conditions and requirements

The nature of the industrial welding business is 24/7/365. Occasional evening and weekend work. This role is based in the shop and in the field. The job is physically and mentally demanding. Ability to lift up to 50 pounds
(occasionally)

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $15.00 – $20.00 per hour
