Hourly Pay: $95,000.00 – $125,000.00 per year

Role Overview

Reporting to the Manufacturing Manager, the Fabrication Shop Supervisor will provide leadership and coordination of the Fabrication department. Develop and implement policies and procedures. Work directly with the Electrical Shop, Tool Room, Machining and Engineering teams to ensure production timeline and project budget goals are met. Work with the Fabrication personnel to deliver the Eclipse Vision and the Eclipse Entrepreneurial Culture.

The Fabrication Shop Supervisor job responsibilities may include but are not limited to:

Technical:

  • Review mechanical drawings and revise as needed prior to assembly.
  • Ensure all machined parts are cut to customer product specifications.
  • Recognize problems, initiate action, assist in problem solving and evaluate results on major issues.
  • Enter and/or update department employee time reports and job tasks allocations.
  • Ensure project tasks are entered correctly and promptly for accurate man hour records for project management department.
  • Participate with research and development of prototypes for concepts that will give Eclipse a competitive edge on new customer proposals.
  • Provide proper tools and materials for specific department processes.
  • Maintain and control department tools and materials inventory.
  • Manage Cut-off department.
  • Implement short- and long-range departmental goals, objectives, policies, and operating procedures within the company’s continuous improvement programs.
  • Direct and coordinate project schedules and resource allocation within the individual project teams.
  • For subcontract manufacturing, monitor and communicate the project scope to the project teams as well as updating entire project time of contract changes.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Leadership:

  • Supervise, direct, teach, assist, and advise fabrication personnel and fabrication apprentices.
  • Ensure contractual communication is clearly understood and the information is completely and clearly transferred from the Project Managers group to the Fabrication group and the ‘Open Book Project Communication’ method is used.
  • Promote positive relations between departments and partners, customers, vendors, and distributors.
  • Recommend and administer policies and procedures to enhance operations which support continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Enforce Eclipse policies throughout the department including Human Resources, Safety and Environmental
  • Recommend Eclipse Database improvements on an ongoing basis to increase efficiency throughout the company.
  • Continuously resource new innovative solutions for corporate competitiveness
  • Ensure concepts meet Eclipse Automation quality, safety, and reliability standards.
  • Adhere to the Eclipse Project Operating Policy
  • Promote Personal Development and Safe work practices, working environment and improve department operations.
  • Act as a safety leader to drive improvements in health and safety culture at Eclipse.
  • Respond to worker H&S concerns and correct substandard safety conditions/practices, including enforcement (as necessary)
  • Follow all safety rules prescribed by H&S legislation/company requirements.
  • Consult and cooperate with the Joint Health and Safety Committee and cooperate with others carrying out H&S duties.
  • Maintain good corporate citizen role in support of the Eclipse corporate Vision and confidentiality ensuring that all business activities are performed with the highest ethical standards and in compliance with the Eclipse Automation Inc. Conduct Code
  • Complete other duties and projects as assigned.

Project Execution:

  • Ensure Scheduled milestones are met.
  • Notify the appropriate departments if milestones cannot be met.
  • Ensure that Company ISO Standards are followed.
  • Liaison between all departments to ensure on time delivery of purchased items and on time delivery of Eclipse machinery and equipment.
  • Work requires flexible hours to get a project completed and work a flexible schedule.
  • Foster the development of a culture reflective of the core values of the business.
  • Expectation of travel to vendor/supplier locations is less than 10% of time, however, may be exceeded in exceptional circumstances to meet project needs.

Qualifications:

  • Has successfully completed a certificate of Qualification for Fabricator, Fitter/Welder or Metal Fabricator, or equivalent.
  • A minimum of 10 years of work experience in the custom manufacturing industry.
  • A minimum of 5 years of work experience in a supervisory role.
  • Knowledge of SolidWorks and AutoCAD would be an asset.
  • Must have knowledge in types of materials, troubleshooting and set-up experience.
  • Work requires professional verbal communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to motivate teams to produce quality materials within tight timeframes and simultaneously manage several projects. Able to multi-task. Ability to participate in group meetings.
  • Direction of plant operations and community relations requires significant manufacturing knowledge.
  • Must be self-motivated and lead by example with a positive attitude and outlook in the company.
