Overview

The open position is for an Assistant Fabricator/Welder & Truck Install Tech for custom and aftermarket assembly on First Responder vehicles. The ideal candidate would be mechanically inclined with good math skills. We are looking for someone interested in metal works and auto body assembly using their fabrication/welding skills to design, build and finish high-quality projects for Police, Fire and EMS vehicles.

FarrWest Specialty Vehicles provides fabrication and metalworking equipment, such as welders, brakes, shears, and presses, and is prepared to expand equipment as needed based on project load or requirement.

The applicant is required to supply their own hand tools and tool storage.

Create design ideas and drawings of projects based on customer needs

Produce high-quality MIG/TIG/Stick welds with Aluminum, Steel and Stainless

Fabrication of small brackets and mounts for various vehicles

Powdercoat or paint finished products

Installation of finished products into vehicles

Accurately estimate and order material for projects and stock

Bumper, truck accessory and K-9 kennel repairs and installation

Must have strong time management skills

Skills/Requirements:
Must have attention to detail

Some knowledge of welding and cutting tools preferred

Ability to safely use and maintain large metal working equipment and cutting tools

Knowledge of 12-volt systems and general automotive a plus

Must be able to read tape measure quickly and accurately and have basic fabrication geometry knowledge

Personal hand tools and tool storage required

Some knowledge of a variety of metal materials

Must have a valid driver’s license and a clean driving record

Maintain a well-groomed appearance

Must be able to stand for long periods of time during fabrication and be able to walk, sit, bend, push/pull, stoop, kneel, crouch, reach or crawl frequently

Must be able to lift at least 50 pounds

Must be able to adapt and change direction on a project when additional accessories might be added to the project.

Understanding digital fabrication methods such as 3D modeling, CNC, and laser cutting is helpful not required
