Position: Fabricator/Welder

Location: Charlotte, NC

Pay: Starting at $22-25/ hour. Based on experience and performance on your weld test.

**Previous experience with SHUT DOWNS is STRONGLY preferred.**

**Stick, MIG, FLUX proficiency in all preferred**

Job Duties: Including but not limited to:

  • Receives instructions, prints, and work orders for the job.
  • Plans details of working procedure and tools and material requirements.
  • Layout and fitting per drawings.
  • Fabricates parts by cutting, burning, and welding various metals.
  • May repair products by dismantling, straightening, reshaping, and reassembling parts, using cutting torch, straightening press, and hand tools
  • Uses burning equipment to dismantle assemblies and to cut material to size and shape.
  • Repairs parts by using welding techniques and appropriate welding equipment.
  • Cleans and prepares surfaces to be welded. Sets up, assembles, and tacks weld parts.
  • Builds up worn or defective surfaces.
  • Ensures welding processes, procedural instructions, evaluations, inspection processes, etc. are held to customer and code requirements of all fabrication performed.
  • Weld structural assemblies using GMAW-Pulse process during fabrication and installation sequence of vehicle construction.
  • Fabricate, weld, and assemble steel and aluminum tooling and fixtures with the use of common metal shop tools/equipment such as band saws, plasma and gas torch cutters, lathes, drill presses, etc.
  • Read, interpret, comprehend, and comply with work instruction, process sheets, diagrams, sketches and blueprints to determine operations, required materials and timeframes for projects.
  • Set up, operate, and maintain welding equipment.
  • Analyzes engineering drawings and specifications to plan layout, fit up, and welding operations of structures.
  • Able to effectively utilize fixtures, jigs, and clamps, as provided for effective positioning and holding of parts to be welded.
  • All other duties as assigned.

Basic Requirements & Qualifications: Including but not limited to:

  • Structural Fitters must be able to read and interpret complex blueprints
  • Stick 7018, 1/8’’ rods proficiency is a MUST
  • Structural Welders must be able to flux core weld in all positions
  • Must be able to pass weld test and fitters assessment
  • High School diploma/ GED and minimum of two years of related experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • 1 years of experience with fabrication within the steel industry
  • Must have the ability to prepare acceptable weld test using GMAW-Pulse welding process, with heavy steel plate(s), in the flat, horizontal, vertical, and overheard welding positions
  • Ability to read blueprints, tape measures, calipers, micrometers, weld gauges
  • Physical Demands include ability to maneuver up to 200 lbs. independently and safely lift 50 lbs. without assistance.
