Morskate Manufacturing is actively recruiting a motivated Full-Time 2nd and 3rd year Apprentice Journeyman Field Welder or Iron worker to join our dynamic team of professionals. Reporting to the Director and Operations Manager, you will be responsible for fabricating and repairing equipment, structures and various types of metal objects in the field using an array of welding processes such as GMAW, GTAW and SMAW. Reports to: Director/Operations Manager

Responsibilities:

  • Maintain excellent attendance record
  • Fabricate and repair equipment, structures and various types of metal objects using an array of welding processes such as GMAW, GTAW and SMAW
  • Analyze drawings, and sketches to determine measurements, layouts and sequence of welding assignments
  • Adhere finished product id tag as per drawing
  • Examine welds and surfaces to discover flaws to ensure they meet the required standards
  • Grind and finish parts to specification
  • Track finished product and job status via sign off on drawings and updates to master control list
  • Accurate use of square, levels, angle finder and other measuring tools related to specific area (in both Metric & Imperial)
  • Operate drill presses, grinders, power saws and other hand tools

Requirements/Qualifications

  • Successful completion of a relevant apprenticeship program or CWB certification an asset
  • 1-2 years welding experience at minimum
  • Ability to read and interpret drawings, sketches, procedures and practices
  • Knowledge of materials and strong understanding of metals
  • Good with numbers in regards to accurate measurements, checking drawings, counting parts and weights
  • Must be physically fit and able to lift 50 lbs.
  • Able to work independently or as part of a team
  • Ability to speak, read, write and understand English clearly
  • Possess problem solving skills
  • Available to work away from home Monday-Friday, occasional Saturday
  • Must be willing to work overtime as needed
  • Local or willing to relocate

Health & Safety Responsibilities:

  • Active participation in company safety program
  • Follow safety protocol including wearing of required PPE and understanding and application of safety policies, procedures and practices
