Overview

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
Fabricates all types of pressure containing steel vessels using drawings, specifications and industry standards.

Cut/burn, layout and prepare all types of steel components such as; rolled shells, pipe and fittings for welding.

Interprets drawing, specifications and diagrams to determine appropriate welding process.

Measures accurately with the ability to maintain stringent tolerances at all times.

Welds carbon and stainless steel.

Uses a variety of portable hand, electric and air powered tools such as grinders, drills and band saws.

Uses pipe bevellers, flame cutting torch and plasma torch.

Uses stationary tools such as bench grinder, iron worker, drill press and chop saw.

Operates lifting equipment such as overhead cranes and jib cranes which is inclusive of rigging experience.

Performs other tasks and duties as required.

Ability to work independently or with a group with minimal supervision.

Helps in training and developing lower level vessel fitters and welders.

Offers and seeks advice from others to help make technically sound decisions or solve problems.

Reports problems to line supervisor and actively participates in resolution.

Perform job duties in a safe manner and according to company safety procedures.

Reports potentially unsafe equipment and safety hazards to supervisor for immediate resolution.

Understands and follows oral and written instructions.

Establish and maintain effective working relationships with all departments and workers.

Actively participates in the development of other employees.

Performs the above and other duties as required with minimal supervision.

Required education or minimum level:
High school education (GED)

Experience:
2 – 3 years experience in pipe or vessel fitting/welding field.

Certified welder preferred.

Skills:
Ability to read tape measures and rulers in increments of 1/16”

Basic mathematic ability to add and subtract fractions, decimals and whole numbers.

Must have knowledge of commonly-used concepts, practices, and procedures within a vessel fabricating and welding shop.

Must be familiar with Safety and OSHA requirements within a welding environment.

Weld to ASME code and 100% x-ray.

Must pass 1G Roll-out test using MIG/Flux Core (GMAW/FCAW)
