Weldco-Beales Manufacturing designs and manufactures specialized heavy equipment attachments for the construction, forestry, mining, scrap recycling, road maintenance and resource industries throughout Canada, the USA and internationally. Weldco-Beales is currently recruiting a Fabricator Apprentice for the Edmonton manufacturing team on our day shift. This position will report to the General Foreman. The Apprentice will work alongside Journeyman Fabricators and learn on-the-job. This position will be a great opportunity for candidates currently working to complete their apprenticeship.

Weldco-Beales Mfg. supports apprentices by providing an Employee Insurance sponsorship program wherein the company provides additional earnings to EI while apprentices attend school. Once consistent, strong performance is demonstrated, the employee will be given the opportunity to enter into the company-sponsored apprenticeship program. In addition, there is tuition support provided as well as on the job experience.

What you will do:
Assists fabricators in the completion of daily fabrication tasks

Review directions, blueprints and work orders and confer understanding with senior fabricator

Assist with the assembly and fitting of metal sections and plates together

Learn to fasten components together (by mechanical means or tack weld) in preparation for a welder to complete the process

Operate equipment and uses various other tools and hand grinders

Learn to operate forklifts, jibs and cranes

Safety conscious with full participation in the safety program and all safety requirements

Perform other duties as needed

Your qualifications:
Passed Metal Fabrication Foundation Program is an asset

Previous steel fabrication experience

Crane & rigging experience is ideal

You will bring to the position:
Knowledge of general safety practices, basic tools and equipment

Physically fit to lift items weighing up to 20kg

Mechanically inclined, manual dexterity and hand-eye coordination skills

Able to learn measurement skills and dimensions

Math and computer skills
