PakFab Engineered Solutions is a North American company with a world class team of packaging experts. We design, program-manage, fabricate, source, retro-fit, repair/service, and breakdown/recycle all types of packaging – metal, plastic, foam, bags, bulk/standard bins and a variety of custom dunnage. Position Summary
The position of Fitter Welder is responsible for the fitting of racks with the use of jigs to hit quotas. Producing racks within specific parameters. They read blueprints and drawings and take or read measurements to plan layout and procedures. This position will work with Lead Hands to ensure continuous improvements in work cells.
Responsibilities
- Produce jigs/fixtures for mass production to ensure production runs quickly and effectively
- Operate manual or semi-automatic welding equipment to fuse metal segments using processes such as MIG or plasma arc welding, oxy-acetylene welding
- Operate manual or semi-automatic flame-cutting equipment
- Operate metal shaping machines such as metal straightening and bending machines
- Read and interpret blueprints or welding process specifications
- Conduct repairs, modifications, and retrofits when required
- Other duties, as assigned
Requirements
- High School Diploma, GED or equivalent
- 3+ years of Fitting experience
- 3+ years of MIG welding experience
- Preferably possess a valid driver’s license
- Ability to work in a fast-paced production shop
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints or welding process specifications
- Strong attention to detail
- Strong work ethic and positive team attitude
- Familiar with weld processes and deficiencies
Work Conditions
- Physical ability to lift up to 50lbs
- Safety equipment will be required, e.g. CSA approved steel-toed safety boots, weld helmet, etc.
- Overtime as required
