Apprentice/Journeyman Fitter/Welder/Metal Fabricator

Location: 4454 Eleniak Rd
Position: Permanent Full Time Dayshift/Nightshift

Reporting to: Shop Foreman, VP Operations

Main roles and Responsibilities

– Demonstrates a commitment to Altaland’s values, an incident free vision, culture and corporate strategies;

– Reads blueprints and specifications to determine the material necessary to lay out work;
– Assembles and fits metal sections and plates to form complete units or subunits using tack welding, bolting, riveting or other methods as required;
– Lays out reference points and patterns according to component specifications;
– Grinds, stamps, cuts and drills material as needed;
– Operates tools and equipment including, but not limited to, overhead cranes, oxy- acetylene torches, gouging equipment, and sub arc welding machines;
– Ensures appropriate personal protective equipment required for the job is worn at all times;
– Maintains general housekeeping within work area;
– Other duties as assigned by the Shop Foreman, VP Operations or designate.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

– Meet the requirements of directly related experience for Apprentice/Journeyman status;

– Journeyman ticket or equivalent; CWB tickets for welding.
– Speaks English, reads English, and writes English;
– Team player, friendly, and displays a professional attitude;
– Accuracy and attention to detail is important;
– Strong attendance and punctuality required.

Job Benefits: Altaland Steelworks offers a negotiable starting wage competitive within the industry based on a 40 hour work week. Benefits contribution towards medical and dental benefits package starting three months after start of employment.

Salary: $22.86-$32.00 per hour

We follow Alberta Health Services guidelines. Vaccinations are recommended. If sick staying home is the best precaution from spreading if affected by the virus. Testing as required. Fit for Duty is primary requirement.
