STEEL FABRICATORS (FITTERS) – FAB SHOP, CALGARY

If you have experience as a Steel Fabricator (Fitter), are local to the area, and available to start immediately, we want to hear from you!

SHIFT DETAILS

Days
5/2 Shift: Monday – Friday
Shift time: 7:00 am to 3:15 pm
Overtime Available: Paid after 8 hours per day and 44 hours per week.

Afternoons
5/2 Shift: Monday – Friday
Shift time: 3:30 pm to 11:30 pm
Overtime Available: Paid after 8 hours per day and 44 hours per week.

A DAY IN THE LIFE…

  • Studies engineering drawings and blueprints, determines the materials required and plans the sequence of tasks to cut metal most efficiently.
  • Prepares materials prior to assembly and lays out reference points and patterns on heavy metal according to component specifications.
  • Rigs, hoists and moves materials to storage areas or within worksite.
  • Sets up and operates various heavy-duty metal-working machines such as cutting torches, grinders and drills, and punch.
  • Fits up fabrication assembly to welding stage. Accurately torch cuts main members to size, if required.
  • Details necessary pieces, if required – Installs fabricated components in final product – Completes quick precision layout of assembly.
  • Completes housekeeping duties in assigned area or project area on a daily basis and/or when required.

EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

  • 5 years experience in the trade. Some college or industry courses in welding are considered an asset.
  • Possesses a solid understanding of weld symbols.
  • Ensures all required CWB qualifications are current. Interprovincial trade certification (Red Seal) an asset.
  • Experienced in creating left hand assembly from right hand views.
  • Possesses the ability to read both English and Metric measurements.
  • Proficient in reading drawings. Experienced with material handling of fragile tack assemblies (long loads and tight turns).
  • Possesses proper rigging and overhead crane skills.

TICKETS REQUIREMENTS

  • Must have own transportation as location is not accessible with public transportation.
  • Must have CSA approved safety boots.
  • Must supply hand tools.
  • Overhead Crane certification is an asset.
