Overview
Position Summary
The FBW operates the weld truck on roadways and on rail. The FBW operates the weld head to produce welds in track and off track. The FBW performs the maintenance and repair of equipment in accordance with manufacturer’s specification, company standards and safety standards. The FBW communicates with and provides instruction to the support team.
Primary/Essential Responsibilities and Duties
FBW will setup and perform weld operations and perform track welding functions
Capable of performing job duties in a safe and professional manner
Self-directed individual with ability to supervise and lead a small work group
Responsible to report customer and production status in a professional and timely manner
Must have the ability to read precision instruments and gauges with a background in heavy mechanical/electrical machines and equipment
Perform QA inspections as required
Organizes booked work projects and activities according to changing demands and priorities
Maintains a clean and safe work environment
Maintains an appropriate supply of spare parts
Provides production estimates and timelines for production and repair activities
Schedules work and modifies work schedules to meet deadlines
Maintains vehicle log book to meet compliance requirements
Train and manage workers
Required Skills and Qualifications
Prior Flash Butt Welding experience required
Must have a valid Class 3 driver’s license with air endorsement
Minimum of 2 years’ experience Flash Butt Welding
A valid Class 3 driver’s license with Air Endorsement and good driving record
Ability to read and understand procedural instructions and manuals
Ability to keep records and to prepare work and time reports
Ability to understand and efficiently carry out instructions
Ability to supervise the work of others and clearly communicate instructions
Ability to prioritize work and meet deadlines
Thorough knowledge of the occupational hazards and safety precautions of the work being performed
Physical Requirements and Working Conditions
Works both indoors and outdoors
Frequently walks, stands, stoops, bends, kneels, and reaches
Lifts and carries heavy equipment and parts
Uses hands to operate equipment and tools involved in repairs
Works around vehicles and machinery with moving parts
Exposed to exhaust fumes, gasoline, and diesel fuel
May be exposed to harsh weather conditions
May be exposed to loud noise
Ability to pass D&A screening and back ground check
Able to travel to out of town projects for extended periods
Resident of British Columbia preferred
