Description
Job Summary
Cut and prepare hollow metal doors, solid core wood doors, and other types of doors for hardware preparations, window (light) and louver inserts and more. Perform welding work on hollow metal doors and hollow metal frames to include rewelding frame returns, welding corner junctions, fabricating side light frames, and welding hollow metal door channels or edges.
Primary Activities and Responsibilities
- Perform welding work on hollow metal frames and hollow metal doors
- Machine and prepare hollow metal doors, wood doors, and others for hardware, accessories, and cutouts
- Review work order tickets, assess for required actions, and execute required machining and/or welding
- Lift and prepare doors weighing approximately 100lbs within warehouse area
- Perform grinding tasks using power and hand tools
- Operate welding torches and monitoring gases
- Assist warehouse personnel in offloading door and frame shipments and in loading customers
- Maintain and inspect equipment daily to ensure operability
- Must be able to read and interpret common measuring tools – measuring tape, saw-mounted measuring tools, calipers, etc.
- Assist warehouse personnel in maintaining a clean work environment
- Monitor and maintain flow of gases, light torch and adjust gas mixture and pressure to obtain desired flame when making field welds
- Very occasionally, perform on-site welding and finish work at job site (approximately, less than 5% of time)
- Gain warehouse forklift certification and demonstrate proficiency in using forklift to move palleted items in warehouse.
Training
You will be expected to demonstrate a general level of proficiency when starting. You will learn specific techniques, preparations required from existing personnel and the warehouse manager

Preferred Qualifications
- Prior experience with hollow metal doors and frames OR prior welding experience
- Prior experience in a warehouse environment
Physical Requirements
- Medium to Heavy work – Ability to lift door and framing material onto saw horses and other preparation sites, doors may weigh above 100 lbs.
- Demonstrate auditory and visual acuity
- Stoop/bend/kneel/crouch/crawl/balance/climb
Basic Competencies
- Communication skills – must be able to provide clear instructions and directions and receive oral and written communication
- General mechanical abilities
- Problem solving, troubleshooting, and teamwork skills
Job Requirements
- Must pass an initial drug test upon hire (state medicinal use exemptions apply)
- Must successfully pass probationary period
- Wear protective equipment such as hard hat, eye protection, hearing protection, or safety-toe boots as needed
- Work hours are typical company office hours, 7 AM to 4PM, Monday through Friday, NO WEEKENDS

We have been a leader in our industry in Northeast Florida for over fifty years and have partnered with many of the area’s contractors as well as numerous individual builders. We have furnished materials for some of the area’s most recognizable buildings and are looking to continue our rich tradition for years to come We are looking for high character individuals to join our team and help continue development of one of Jacksonville’s oldest distributors.

Pay: $14.00 – $15.00 per hour
