Medicine Hat College’s School of Trades & Technology invites applications for a full-time Instructor who will split their teaching duties in the Welding, Steamfitter-Pipefitter & Plumbing programs. This is a full-time position starting July 1, 2023 and subject to successful completion of a two-year probationary period, the position will be a continuous appointment.
A little about the role:
Responsibilities include preparing for and instructing classes which address all aspects of Welding, Steamfitter-Pipefitter and Plumbing. Adapting instruction based on feedback from students, participating in program and curriculum development and maintaining contact with relevant industries will be on-going duties. You will also be part of a team responsible for overseeing the operation and maintenance of equipment used during instruction.
The successful candidate will also be required to engage in a variety of professional responsibilities and contribute to a collaborative environment that fosters the mission of the college and the success of our students. This position requires a passion for, and a commitment to learners, strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work in a team.

As a successful applicant you will have:
Completion of Alberta Journeyman/Inter-Provincial Red Seal in Welding, SFPF or Plumbing
5 years related work experience as a journeyman
Solid theoretical knowledge of the Welding, SFPF and Plumbing trades
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Ability to work in a team environment
Interest and enthusiasm in helping apprentices learn new ideas and develop new skills
Past experience with instruction, and office computer applications are assets
