Overview

This position is for a handmade furniture company in New Orleans. We are looking for a full time energetic fabricator/craftsman to work in our metal department. This is for an entry level-intermediate knowledge base. Candidates should have at least a baseline understanding of how to prep, cut, grind, weld, and finish metal furniture. They should be comfortable using a GMAW welder and use the correct tools needed for metal fabrication.

Duties:

-Metal Craftsman position

-Develop strong understanding of how to build entire our entire portfolio of metal furniture

-Assist in day-to-day metal production

-Work to meet production deadlines and keep projects on schedule

-Gain developed understanding of daily shop operations

Job Description:

The Metal Craftsman position requires a strong background using tools and MIG welder for metal construction. This position will participate in the day-to-day operations of the shop including prep work, construction, finish work and painting/varnishing of furniture. Position will report directly to Tristan to become comfortable and proficient in the daily work routine. Position will require creative and team participation that keeps the shop running orderly and as efficiently as possible. Position will manage the overall workload and furniture deadlines. Position requires the understanding of precise measurements. Position requires heavy lifting of steel. Must have a willingness to learn and grow as an individual. Primary machines and tools use are as follows:

-MIG Welder

-Movable, Tabletop Grizzly Bandsaw

-DeWalt Angle Grinder

-Drill Press

-Freestanding Pipe/Tube Bender

-Harbor Freight Ring Roller

-Basic workshop tools such as hammers, screwdrivers, tape measures, ect.

-Acetylene Torch

Wages/Benefits

-Position is full time, paid hourly at $xx an hour

-Required working hours are typically 40-45 hours a week

-10 hours of overtime pay available per month

-health/dental insurance provided after 4 months of employment

-Payday is every two weeks on the 1st and 15th of each month, or the prior business day. Paid through direct deposit.

-Work place accidents or injuries are subject to be covered under worker’s compensation insurance.
