Company description

Fortis Custom Builds/ JMS Fabrication is a custom fabrication shop located in the Niagara Region. With JMS we specialize in custom metal and aluminum fabrication but also manufacture Penn Elcom’s style of Stage truss and staging for the event industry. This includes all of the accessories that go with it like legs, stairs, carriages, and baseplates.

The Fortis Custom Builds side has a CNC, Laser, and specializes in custom design and builds of wood, foam, and plastic structures for events, promotions, and more.

Job description

Credentials (certificates, licenses, memberships, courses, etc.)

  • Welder Trade Certification GTAW (Not required if you complete a weld test)
  • Machining experience

Equipment and Machinery Experience

  • Aluminum MIG and TIG
  • Steel MIG

Additional Skills

  • Read and interpret welding blueprints, drawings specifications, manuals and processes
  • Examine welds and ensure that they meet standards and/or specifications

Area of Specialization

  • Aluminum staging and truss work
  • Fencing, balconies, stairs and railings
  • Custom fabrication
  • Structural construction

Weight Handling

  • Up to 23 kg (50 lbs)
  • Up to 45 kg (100 lbs)

Welding Techniques

  • Gas tungsten arc welding (GTAW) (TIG)
  • Shielded metal arc welding (SMAW)
  • Gas metal arc welding (GMAW)

Work Setting

Specific Skills

  • Operate manual or semi-automatic, fully automated welding equipment
  • Interpret welding process specifications
  • Determine weldability of materials
  • Operate previously set-up welding machines to fabricate or repair metal parts and products
  • Operate hoisting and lifting equipment

Job Types: Full-time, Permanent

Salary: $48,750.00-$68,250.00 per year
