HDPE PLASTIC WELDING TECHNICIAN/ CONSTRUCTION LABORER

An excellent opportunity for the right person who is safety minded to work with a specialty environmental contractor for the Greater Vancouver area. The individual should have access to reliable transportation. Working with seasoned professionals to assist in the installation of construction products at new municipal wastewater treatment plants, landfills and sanitary pipelines. We are looking for a good work ethic and a willingness to be trained to complete field installations with all necessary safety courses provided. Installations involve open air applications and confined space within a concrete structure or large precast concrete sanitary pipe from 4’-10’ diameter.

Previous construction background not a mandatory requirement but helpful in the physical activities required in the field, safety standards and awareness of construction equipment. An assistant carpenter’s background may also be of benefit for the cutting and fitting of materials on wooden forms. Working from scaffolding and heights is also part of the installation contracts.

The ideal candidates will be capable of working with minimal oversight but willing to follow directions closely from Primary field personnel

In-house training completed before start of the field work through our Senior Supervisor and continuous as the projects evolve.

We offer a consistent work schedule, living out allowance if away from the Lower Mainland and competitive pay.

Some of our field tasks are as follows:

· Working in open areas, earthwork excavations can have long slope areas or within a confined space from 4’-10’ diameter pipe with all necessary safety equipment provided

· Moving of sandbags, weight approximately 40 pounds, pulling sheets off large rolls and walking backwards to position material for field installation

· Working off scaffolding as per Work Safe BC regulations, height from ground to 20’

· Cutting materials with a skill saw and fitting plastic materials on wooden forms. Materials held in place from operating a pneumatic nailer or nailed in place by hand

· Cleaning, heat tacking and grinding of plastic materials. Will require the use of a respirator at times and must be clean shaven

· Perform set up and general housekeeping on a project

· Provide labor support to the various tasks to complete the installation work

· Perform general maintenance of generators and other construction equipment

Background Qualifications required for the Position:

· Educational background – outline

· Advise current safety certificates

· Construction background 2 years

· Field welding of HDPE with extruders

· Current Driver’s license – maybe optional depending on the individual

· Basic understanding of Construction Principles and Procedures

· Comfortable working in a congested work environment and changes in weather conditions

Job Types: Full-time, Permanent

Salary: $45,000.00-$72,013.00 per year

COVID-19 considerations:
All employees have 2 COVID vaccinations and booster required for working with Primary personnel and on construction sites
