Acden Lemax Machining and Welding Incorporated is currently accepting applications for a Heavy Welding Supervisor. This position will consist of 8-hour day shifts, Monday to Friday rotation. However, hours, schedules and locations may change from time to time due to operational and training requirements.This is a local position to Fort McMurray; candidates must have their own accommodations within the region.

Job Functions and Responsibilities:

· Under the direction of the General Manager, the Heavy Welding Supervisor is responsible for the day-to-day supervision of the operations of the shop.

· Ensure all employees and contractors working on the assigned client worksite are fit for duty

· Coordinate the completion of orientation, safety and/or other training deemed necessary upon completion of hire

· Export training reports and proactively schedule corporate training, safety training and or other training deemed necessary

· Enforce and cultivate safe work practices, guidelines and policies at all times

· Responsible for responding and addressing urgent and non-urgent situations involving employees and/or contractors

· Conduct worksite observations on a regular basis and/or as instructed by the General Manager or designate

· Review job description with all new hires upon start and when deemed necessary with existing employees

· Uphold and communicate standards of conduct and operational expectations to direct reports

· Collaborate and work with other leaders and employees of the team as needed. Collaborate with leadership with special projects, business opportunities and or other prospects

· Communicate efficiently with the Shop Supervisor and other senior leadership regarding operational matters and other matters as required

· Assist employees with requests in a timely fashion, direct employees to the necessary resources in areas of uncertainty

· Complete projects and meet deadlines set forth by the General Manager, Acden corporate and/or the client as required

· Initiate and deliver corrective action when needed in response to policy or procedure violations

· Complete other duties as assigned by the General Manager or designate, in order to fulfill full service to the smooth operations of Acden Lemax and/or the client

Safety:

· Ensure all personnel are issued and are utilizing correct Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) as required

· Cultivate and encourage Acden’s safety culture through daily interactions and observations

· Complete all administration duties related to safety reporting as required

· Participate, attend and lead daily toolbox talks

· Report all incidents immediately to the appropriate corporate HSEQ representative, management team and/or other personnel as required

· Assist with all incident investigations; conduct Loss Control Reports (LCRs)

Complete all LCR’s ensuring accuracy and submit to HSEQ representative

Performance Standards:

· Meets all deadlines as requested by the supervisor

  • Professional and respectful conduct held at all times with the client, contractors, Acden business units and employees of Acden Lemax

· Abide and comply with Acden’s Code of Conduct policy and act in a respectful manner towards management, peers, employees, vendors and clients

· Proactively search for efficiencies on day-to-day operations and for the benefit of client contracts

Qualifications:

· Five (5) years of supervisory experience in a Welding or Machine shop environment,

· Minimum Class 5 driver’s license with a clean abstract

· Five (5) years Oil Sands site exposure

· Five (5) years Heavy welding experience

· Five (5) years CWB welding experience, CWB supervisor designation is an asset

· Knowledge of Alberta Boilers Safety Association (ABSA) procedures

· Experience with managing other trade, such as; welders, millwrights, and machinists

· Maintain access to all Oil Sands client sites and other worksites and locations which Acden conducts business

· Ability to positively motivate group of employees

· Coach, mentor and lead employees

· Ability to analyze reporting to spot trends and proactively manage areas of concern

· Ability to analyze necessary data based on the information, service requirements and policies

· Clear and precise verbal and written communication skills

· Competent with utilizing Microsoft Office Suite and or other software as required

· High degree of accuracy and attention to details

Working environment:

· Position is based in the Shop. Some field work may be required

· Environment can be dusty, muddy or icy at times

· Frequent communication (mainly office and cell phone) with client and employees

· Stressors may include occasional ‘incidents’ to be managed quickly and effectively, employee issues and client concerns

· Fast paced with multiple tasks that require immediate attention

· The hours worked are dependent on-site specific needs and demands as well as contractual needs.

Our Pre-Employment Requirements:

· Comprehensive Drug, Alcohol and Audiometric pre-employment testing.

· CSTS and OSSA certificates or OSSA BSO certificate or OSSA CSO

· Class 5 Driver’s License with clean 5-year history driver’s abstract obtained within 30 days.

· Must be able to provide credentials of trade prior to or at the interview stage.

· Must be eligible to work on all Oil Sands sites within the Regional Municipality of Wood Buffalo.
