Job Purpose
The primary purpose of this position is to perform the required and necessary tasks in the hydraulics, welding process and fabrication of material for the mounting, installing and assembly of truck mounted systems, including but not limited to, hydraulics, driveline and snow and ice control systems.
The Hydraulic Specialist In this role, you will be primarily responsible for the installation, repair, and assembly of pumps, valves, motors, and various other truck mounted/ hydraulic mobile equipment.
The position of Welder/fabricator includes, but is not limited to production welding, service & repair welding, prototype building, and fitter welding. Responsibilities will include the fabrication of custom prototypes from supplied drawings, fabrication of custom jigs and fixtures to produce production parts that meet customer specifications, as well as the fabrication of metal structures using jigs and fixtures.
The use of various hand tools, machinery and equipment will be required to manufacture metal products. This position will work with Supervisors and Lead Hands to ensure continuous improvements in work cells, hitting quotas, welding according to pre-set parameters using MIG, ARC and TIG welding processes.
The ideal candidates will have the following:
- Experience with truck-mounted equipment an asset (PTO’s, pumps, hydraulics)
- Will be required to have your own tools
- Must be able to work in a fast-paced environment
- Detail oriented, dependable, and punctual
- Be a team player with exceptional interpersonal skills
- Welding certification and experience with aluminum and steel mig and stick welding (we will accept applicants without certification if experience is acceptable and pending a welding test)
- Solid mechanical skills and hands-on experience working with light/heavy duty vehicles, equipment and accessories
- One or more years’ experience with truck parts assembly and installations, rigging, and fabrication of different products and systems
- Basic knowledge of cutting, welding and fabrication
- Able to read and understand drawings, schematics and technical bulletins
- Detail oriented and safety conscious
- Self-motivated
- Able to work independently and in a team in a fast-paced environment with specific deadlines
Major Responsibilities
- Provide superior technical hydraulic support to the organization and to external customers
- Work with identified management and staff, procurement and warranty resolution as required.
- Participate and/or lead teams of employees in projects that are designed to enhance customer support and product development mix.
- Compliance with all internal Policies and Procedures including, but not limited to, Health and Safety and Quality Management
- If directing work of other employees, must be aware of all related hazards and must communicate these hazards, controls and personal protective equipment required in order to complete the assigned tasks
- Read and interpret blueprints or welding process specifications.
- Operate manual or semi-automatic welding equipment to fuse metal segments using processes such as gas tungsten arc welding (GTAW), gas metal arc welding (GMAW), flux-cored arc welding (FCAW), plasma arc welding (PAW), shielded metal arc welding (SMAW), oxy-acetylene welding (OAW), resistance welding and submerged arc welding (SAW).
- Operate manual or semi-automatic flame-cutting equipment.
- Operate brazing and soldering equipment.
- Operate metal shaping machines such as brakes, shears and other metal straightening and bending machines.
- Repair parts of metal products by welding extra layers.
- Maintain safe work practices.
- Conduct repairs, modifications, and retrofits.
- Assist in training, directing & supervision of junior employees and apprentices, inspecting and certifying their work.
- Ensure accuracy and completion of assigned tasks and projects.
- Keep detailed and accurate reports and documentation.
Qualifications – Licensing / Educational Requirements
- High School Diploma, GED or equivalent.
- 2+ years of experience as a Welder.
- Interprovincial Red Seal or CWB tickets is an asset
- Valid welding certification, Gas Metal Arc Welding (GMAW), Shielded Metal Arc Welding (SMAW), certified in all positions.
- Ability to work independently in a busy environment.
- Highly flexible, with solid interpersonal skills that allow one to work effectively in a diverse working environment.
- Able to effectively communicate both verbally and in writing.
- Able to work well under pressure and strong attention to detail.
Experience:
- Welding: 2 years (preferred)
Licence/Certification:
- welding cert, (GMAW), (SMAW) (preferred)
- Hydraulics and/or Truck/Mobile Equipment experience.
- Working experience in the Hydraulics industry preferred.
Skills/Knowledge
- Familiarity and ability understand written manuals and technical documents.
- Proven analytical skills and the ability to identify customer needs and the ability to effectively communicate them required.
- Strong presentation, oratory, and written skills.
- Ability to lead teams in complicated projects based on company and customer needs.
