Overview
Applied Industrial Technologies LP is an extensive network of industrial distribution facilities located throughout Canada. We are currently seeking and have an immediate opening for a qualified and motivated individual to fill the position of of Welder/Fabricator in our Kamloops, BC shop.
Key Responsibilities:
- Set up components for welding/fabrication as per standard specifications.
- Weld different metals and alloys in various positions.
- Weld/fabricate a variety of equipment and industrial components.
- Determine appropriate welding equipment or methods based on individual job requirements.
- Read and understand production drawings, blueprints, work orders and other written instructions.
- Operate grinders, gouging and cutting equipment
- Create jigs and fixtures in an effort to create a quality and repeatable product.
- Maintenance and use of equipment that does not compromise safety
- Quality – Testing and inspection of welds to discover flaws
- Participate and comply with all required Health & Safety Programs and training.
- Work safely, lead by example and contribute to Applied’s corporately sponsored safety program.
- Communicate appropriately, confidently and professionally to colleagues and management
- Other tasks as assigned
Qualifications:
- 3 or more years of experience within an industrial setting is required
- Welding certification or Fabrication certification is required, indentured apprentices’ will be considered.
- Millwright experience would be a huge asset
- Experience using a variety of welding equipment and procedures
- Ability to read and interpret technical documents and drawings.
- Mechanical aptitude, experience or certification in other trades an asset
- Self motivated, organized and able to work independently
- Able to work in a team environment and utilize all available resources
- Excellent communication skills – both oral and written
- Desire to succeed and grow within the organization
- Previous supervisory experience will be considered an asset.
