We are seeking energetic and motivated welder / fabricator personnel to work on a variety of construction and industrial equipment.
Responsibilities include:
- Read blueprints and drawings and take or read measurements to plan layout and procedures
- Operate rigging equipment and forklift to place and move heavy equipment.
- Operate grinders to prepare the parts that must be welded
- Align components using calipers, rulers etc. and clamp pieces
- Dissemble equipment catalogue, repair parts and reinstall on equipment as needed.
- Repair heavy machinery and other components my replacing defective parts.
- Be able to document findings and repair on equipment and be able to document dimensions and tolerances of parts as needed.
- Maintain equipment in a condition that does not compromise safety
Requirements / Skills:
- Proven experience as welder
- Experience using a variety of welding equipment and procedures (SMAW / GTAW / FCAW / GMAW)
- Perform welding equipment maintenance and inspection
- Assess for hazards and implement controls to protect self and others in the area
- Experience in using electrical or manual tools (saws, squares, calipers etc.)
- Ability to read and interpret technical documents and drawings
- Knowledge of relative safety standards and willingness to use protective clothing (face-shield, gloves etc.)
- Deftness and attention to detail
- Able to work in a variety positions; standing, sitting, etc
- Perform manual handling and lifting using safe lifting techniques and mechanical equipment when possible
- Proficient in English
- Successful completion of a relevant apprenticeship program is preferred
- Professional Certification (CWB welding certificate) will be an asset
Applicants must have the following qualifications:
- Good organisational skills and the ability to work independently
- Safety oriented
- Related experience
- Class 5 Drivers License
- Must be a team player
- Machining capabilities are an asset
- Welding capabilities are a must
Above all, you must be team oriented and have a strong mechanical aptitude with the willingness to perform a wide range of repair and maintenance tasks.
We offer a base salary (based on experience) and a generous benefit package.
