Overview

Scope of Responsibilities: The Welder is an integral part of the Industrial Refrigeration Construction team and is primarily responsible for the welding and fabrication of industrial refrigeration equipment piping.

Essential Functions:
Fabricate, install, and weld various piping systems used in heavy industrial refrigeration;

Properly use and care for the tools and equipment commonly employed on an industrial job such as bending brakes, band saws, or banding tools and all welding equipment;

Perform fabrication or modification of prefabricated insulation kits for special purposes such as valves, pipe fittings, and rotating equipment;

Assemble and secure pipes, tubes, fittings, and related equipment according to specifications by welding, brazing, cementing, soldering, and threading joints;

Cut, thread, and braze pipe to specifications, using tools such as saws, cutting torches, and pipe-threaders and benders;

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Knowledge of the various methods used to weld and solder industrial refrigeration piping;

Possess basic knowledge and understanding of welding equipment and all materials commonly used in industrial welding;

Possess current knowledge of welding and craftsman practices;

Proficiency in the basic skills of welding, soldering brazing, fabricating and installing heavy industrial refrigeration equipment;

Ability to read and interpret the drawings and specifications as they pertain to welding;

Education and Experience:
High School Education or equivalent;

Certification(s) from trade school in welding or ability to pass similar skills assessment training;

Experience working in the Industrial Refrigeration industry;

Minimum of one (1) year of welding experience;

Work Environment:
Requires working in very hot (above 100F) or very cold (below 10F) temperatures and the ability to wear all required safety PPE in these conditions;

Extensive travel is required for extended periods of time;

Requires the ability to work overtime, as necessary;

Capable of working independently for up to twelve (12) hours at a time.

Physical Demands:
Ability to climb 40-foot extension ladders and work on all types of ladders;

Ability to operate scissor lifts, fork trucks, boom lifts, lulls, and other industrial equipment safely;

Must be able to work at heights in a safety harness;

Ability to see and hear industrial equipment as it moves around the job site;

Requires face-to-face communication and contact with others (face-to-face, telephone, email, or otherwise);

Capable of lifting 75 pounds frequently during the day;

Must be able to stand, stoop, bend, kneel, and squat for extended periods of time.
