Olds College is currently seeking a Welding Instructor in its Pre-Employment Welding and Dual Credit program on the Olds College campus for a short term contract basis. The Welder Pre-Employment Program is the equivalent to the technical training of first year Welder Apprenticeship and provides complete instruction in 1st period welding, both theory and practical. The anticipated start date for this opportunity is: February 22, 2022.
Responsibilities may include delivering the 1st year curriculum (theory) and all aspects of the practical portion (lab) of the Welder Apprenticeship Program as well as introductory welding and safety/hand tool courses. Further requirements will include Module test bank management, grading of projects, records management and student mentoring.
Mandatory professional requirements include:
Journeyman Certification (Red Seal) in the trade of Welder for a minimum of five (5) years.
Initial “B” Certification, Certificate or Diploma in Welding Technology or equivalent would be a definite asset.
The ability to work in both a team environment and independently with minimal supervision is essential.
The successful candidate will possess strong interpersonal skills and organizational abilities. Previous experience facilitating apprenticeship welding at the post-secondary level, CWB certification.
Knowledge of Google and Microsoft Office products are definite assets.
