Instructor, Pre-Employment Welding

Wage Range: $31.01 to $47.63 per hour

Qualifications:

  • Journeyman Welding Certificate is required;
  • Red Seal endorsement for Welder an asset;
  • CWB Certification and B-Pressure Certification an asset;
  • Minimum 10 years of welding work experience in a variety of settings;
  • Previous teaching or mentoring experience an asset;
  • Excellent skills with MS office, TEAMS, Power Point presentations and Excel;
  • Experience with multiple online Learning platforms an asset;
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills;
  • Valid Driver’s License;
  • Clean Criminal Record Check, including Vulnerable Sector Check prior to commencement.

Successful candidate must provide Journeyman Certificate, Criminal Record check and proof of valid driver’s license to Human Resources prior to commencement.

Position Description
Instructor – Pre-Employment Welding
This position is responsible for planning, preparing, and delivery of instruction and evaluation of learners for the Alberta Apprenticeship and Industry Training Welding Apprenticeship Program, as well as Pre-Employment Welding Program. Theory and lab instruction is geared toward preparing students to write the Alberta Apprenticeship exam for progressive periods of the Welding trade. This position also includes administrative duties, curriculum development and lesson planning, liaising with communities/government/industry representatives and working with other College departments. The incumbent reports to the Chair, Trades.
Nature or scope of work:

  • Instructional planning
  • Program content delivery, addressing various learning styles and needs
  • Student progress evaluation/reporting
  • Communicating with industry, government and community groups
  • Collaborating with other College departments to facilitate learner success
  • Performing instructor-related administrative tasks such as:
  • Assisting in the recruitment and enrolment of students
  • Tracking student attendance & interventions
  • Submitting reports and forms as required
  • Maintaining confidentiality and security of student information
  • Other instructor-related duties as required to maintain and enhance quality of programming
