Instructor, Welding (Term)

Electrical, Mechanical and Manufacturing

Applicants are to clearly demonstrate how they satisfy the selection criteria in their written

submissions and must identify the competition number they are applying for in the subject line of

the email.

This competition may be used to establish a 12 month eligibility list of qualified candidates for

future vacancies.

D U T I E S

Reporting to the Chair of the Electrical, Mechanical and Manufacturing department, the Instructor

is required to deliver theory and practical training to welding students, develop and modify

curriculum, conduct student assessments and provide academic counselling, supervise student

practical labs, maintain lab and classroom equipment, maintain accurate program reports,

effectively manage classroom activities, and perform related administrative responsibilities as

required.

R E Q U I R E D Q U A L I F I C A T I O N S

  • Inter-Provincial Certificate as a journeyperson in the Welding trade
  • Current experience within the scope of the Welding trade, with several years’ of experience

post-attainment of a journeyperson certification

  • Current or previous Canadian Welding Bureau (CWB) qualification
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Excellent interpersonal skills
  • Experience presenting to a diverse group of individuals
  • Demonstrated leadership skills
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office software (Outlook, Work, Excel, PowerPoint)
  • Ability to work independently as well as in small to large group settings
  • Monitor and facilitate work practicum placements
  • Experience building a respectful workplace culture that promotes diversity, learning and

continuous improvement

  • Experience in instruction and / or curriculum development
  • Certificate in Adult Education (CAE) program or a Technical Vocational Diploma
  • Post-secondary instructional experience
  • Proficiency in trades math

C O N D I T I O N S O F E M P L O Y M E N T

  • Applicants must be legally entitled to work in Canada
  • This position may be required to work evenings and/or weekends
  • This position may be required to work overtime
  • This position is subject to audiometric assessments
  • Instructors are required to complete the Teaching for Learning (TFL) in Applied Education

program or have previously completed the Certificate in Adult Education (CAE)

  • This position may be required to work throughout the academic year including the summer

months

  • May be required to lift of move objects up to 50 lbs
  • WHMIS Certification
