As NAIT continues to grow its student body and lead the way in hands-on learning, we are recruiting skilled and passionate individuals to help inspire and train current and future industry professionals and become part of Canada’s leading polytechnic.

NAIT’s Welding program will train students to cut, assemble and fabricate many steel structures such as pipelines to agriculture/power/transport equipment to building poles to specialty ornate and artistic pieces. Students will receive the necessary training to safely develop the skills to properly function and advance in the trade of welding, this will include welding processes used today, reading, and interpreting drawings, following welding procedures and studying the science of metals in the form of basic metallurgy.

The program is currently recruiting for a salaried instructor who is an energetic leader, committed to student success, and has outstanding communication, interpersonal and organizational skills. The successful candidate will:

Key Responsibilities:
Prepare and present learning outcomes and activities in a classroom, laboratory and industry setting

Participate in curriculum development, program reviews and course reviews

Facilitate the learning process by utilizing instructional strategies that ensure efficient and effective delivery of course materials

Manage instructional delivery and set the tone and climate for a safe and effective learning environment

Create assessment tools to evaluate the learning process and maintain progress records

Provide early and on-going coaching and tutoring for students to maximize student success and retention

Respond to student issues

Utilize appropriate educational technology for presentations, communications and program promotions

Maintenance and/or submission of program/student records accurately and promptly

Maintain professional and ethical relationships with students, colleagues, and industry partners

Actively participate in the strategies of NAIT’s Strategic Plan and NAIT’s Academic Plan as identified by the institute

Utilize regular student feedback to identify and implement instructional improvement

Improve the quality of instruction through professional development activities

Other duties as assigned

Qualifications:
High School Diploma

Completion of a Welding Alberta Journeyperson certificate, B Pressure and Inter-Provincial Red Seal required

Minimum 5 years recent industry experience after completion of Journeyperson ticket.

Teaching experience an asset

Remuneration: $2432.45 – $4231.45 bi-weekly, plus a comprehensive benefits package. (Classification – Instructor 5501)

This position is covered by the NASA (NAIT Academic Staff Association) Collective Agreement.
